PROFESSIONAL & PAINLESS Healthy Gums, Healthy Smile
Gum health is the most important aspect of ensuring that you keep your teeth for life. At Sherwood Dental Practice we are passionate about helping you create and maintain a happy, healthy smile.
We believe that good oral hygiene is essential for your dental health and your overall well-being. We would prefer to prevent problems from occurring in the first place rather than fixing them when they happen.
Consultation
We’ll assess the health of your gums and discuss their findings with you.
Scale
Remove the hardened deposits that bacteria attach itself to your teeth and gums.
Polish
Polish your teeth and remove the rough surfaces that become stained more easily.
Advice
We’ll give you advice so you can help to maintain and improve your oral health at home.
Regular visits for hygiene services will minimise the risk of tooth loss, reducing the risk of developing tooth decay and need for fillings. In addition, you won’t believe how clean and fresh your mouth will feel after experiencing our AIRFLOW EMS system.
PERIODONTAL DISEASE Gum Disease Support
Periodontal disease (gum disease) affects the gums and bone supporting your teeth. It is caused by sticky plaque and hard deposits of tartar. This happens when teeth and gums are not kept clean enough (alongside many other factors). Without regular cleaning, plaque sits in the space between the tooth and the gum which eventually will create pockets around the tooth where further plaque and tartar deposits can collect. Pockets are difficult to keep clean and gum disease will get worse if no treatment is carried out. The next stage of the disease will involve losing the bone that supports the teeth and teeth can be lost.
